Dr. Mira Rivke Blum

mirarivke@tauex.tau.ac.il

Although Rivka Blum’s BA from UC Berkeley was in Spanish Literature and her PhD at Brandeis University focused primarily on Central Asian languages, her career shifted in 2016 when, on a whim, she decided to enroll in an intensive Yiddish summer program on a farm. As a result, today she writes, speaks, and works primarily in Yiddish, and starting in 2025, she is thrilled to teach the language at Tel Aviv University. In addition to teaching Yiddish online and at the university, Rivka coordinates a summer language immersion retreat in upstate NY called Yiddish Vokh. A passionate polyglot, she can hold a conversation in ten languages.
